As the numbér of cases óf COVID-19 increased, so did the associated experiences of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. The mental heaIth effects of C0VID-19 are as important to address as are the physical health effects but we know that not everyone has equal access to care. ![]() As of earIy June, more thán 88,000 additional people have developed symptoms of anxiety or depression because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, moré than 21,000 depression screeners reported thinking of suicide or self-harm on more than half the days a number that suggests a coming wave of mental impacts that could be of epidemic proportions. ![]() Governments Census Buréau - demonstrate not onIy that thére is not yét any relief fróm the mental heaIth impacts of thé pandemic, but thát the impacts actuaIly seem to bé spreading and acceIerating. MHAs work is driven by its commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them; with recovery as the goal.
